Mamta Banerjee has always been married. Her Husband is Mr Ranjit Ghosh, previously working at Alipur Police Court, in Kolkata. Political Career of Mamata Banerjee
Mamata Banerjee started her career in Congress in 1970s as an young woman.
Banerjee became famous and get attention when she danced on the car of Shri Jai Prakash Narayan, a socialist and politician, for protesting against him.
She became the general secretary of Bengal Congress(I) from 1976 to 1980.
Mamata won a parliament seat in the 1984 general election and became the youngest Member of Parliament.
Mamata Banerjee also became the general secretary of the Indian Youth Congress in 1984.
She lost her seat in the anti-Congress wave in the 1989 general elections to Malini Bhattacharya of CPI.
Banerjee was re-elected in 1991, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2009 general elections.
