SIAM(Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturer) has released January auto industry sales numbers and see how these 10 Top Two Wheeler Companies in January 2021 performed.
Hero MotoCorp’s entry-level commuter motorcycle Splendor continues to lead the top 10 two-wheeler models sold in January 2021.
Honda Activa is in the second position in the sales chart, according to the latest data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
Splendor clocked sales of 225,382 units in January 2021, up by 1.26% compared to 222,572 units sold in the same month last year.
Honda Activa registered sales of 211,660 units in January 2021 compared to 234,749 units in January 2020.
In the top 10 list, sales of all but three models of two-wheelers moved up from last January. Entry-level sub-segment leads the sales chart as the two-wheeler industry is slowly coming out of the pandemic days.
Yet another commuter bike, HF Deluxe, from the stable of Hero MotoCorp.
India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, claimed the third slot in the list with sales of 1,34,860 units in January 2021.
However, it is a decline of 29.71% from 1,91,875 units in January 2020.
Meanwhile, Hero Passion took the ninth position at 43,162 units in January 2021, up 60.42% from 26,905 units in the previous January.
Recovery in rural demand translated into healthy growth in Hero’s stronghold entry sub-segment of motorcycles, claiming three spots with 39.31% share in the top 10 sales chart.
The company would focus on improving its presence in the two fastest-growing segments of scooters and premium motorcycles, the chairman had told ET Auto earlier.

Although volumes of the Japanese manufacturer’s popular model Activa declined by 9.84%.
The company more than made up for the loss with its entry-level motorcycle CB Shine.
It is recorded a 128% increase in sales to 116,222 units in January 2021 from 50,931 units in the same month last year.
Another regular appearance in the top 10 list, Bajaj Pulsar, is at the fifth position.
Its Sales were at 97,580 units in January 2021, registering an increase of 42.76% compared to 68,354 units in the corresponding month in 2020.
For TVS Motors, XL 100 in the sixth spot in the January 2021 sales chart.
It was the best-selling model with sales of 59,007 units, up 12.34% from 52,525 units in January 2020.
The seventh and eighth positions were occupied by two scooters, TVS Jupiter and Suzuki Access 125, respectively.
Jupiter recorded sales of 51,952 units in January 2021 as against 38,689 units during the corresponding month in 2020 with 34.28% growth.
Sales of Access 125 declined by 16.70% to 45,475 units in January 2021 from 54,595 units in January 2020.
Royal Enfield’s Classic 350 is in the 10th slot with sales of 40,875 units, registering a marginal increase of 0.10% from 40,834 units in January 2020.
Cumulatively, the top 10 two-wheeler brands in January 2021 sold 10,26,175 units, up 4.49% from 9,82,035 units in the corresponding month last year.
